ABMGT: Users Unable to Enter Partial Day/Hours Absence When Browser Preferred Language Is French (Doc ID 3065688.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 30, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM Absence Management - Version 9.2 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When browser preferred language setting is French, users are unable to enter partial day/partial hours absence requests, which require the comma to separate the whole days/hours from the partial day/hour.

The following error occurs if the user attempts to enter the comma or decimal separator:

Number field format error. This field accepts signed number. Format: Up to 2 digit(s) before the decimal and 2 digit(s) after the decimal symbol. Please re-enter the value for the input field using correct format.

Steps to reproduce:

EDGE:
1. Set preferred language to French.
2. Sign into PSFT in either English or French; it behaves the same way.
3. Employee Self Service>Time tile> Manage Absences tile.
4. Notice the date display is consistent with European format.
5. Choose an absence (in this case, sick) and click Apply Absence.
6. Notice the duration displayed has the comma number separator.
7. Click Partial Days setup (field is blank).
8. Edge will not even allow a comma. Click comma and the field highlights in red, with error requesting a 'valid' value.
9. Try to enter 2.5 (decimal). Get error message "Number field format error. This field accepts signed number. Format: Up to 2 digit(s) before the decimal and 2 digit(s) after the decimal symbol. Please re-enter the value for the input field using correct format."

CHROME:
8. Enter 2,5 (comma). Get error message "Number field format error. This field accepts signed number. Format: Up to 2 digit(s) before the decimal and 2 digit(s) after the decimal symbol. Please re-enter the value for the input field using correct format."
9. Change the symbol to decimal; receive the same error.
