E-ES: External Links Give Error "Invalid URL - unknown Content Type or no Content Type found in URL" Once There Are Corresponding Entries in the Recent Menu Index (Doc ID 3065777.1)

Symptoms

The issue was reproducible in the customer site with the following steps:
1- Create a Content Reference to and external site/URL, in PeopleTools > Portal > Structure and Content.
2- Deploy (PeopleTools > Search Framework > Administration > Deploy Search Objects) and run a Full Index Build (PeopleTools > Search Framework > Administration > Schedule Search Indexes) for the Menu index (PTPORTALREGISTRY).
3- Deploy (PeopleTools > Search Framework > Administration > Deploy Search Objects) and run a Full Index Build (PeopleTools > Search Framework > Administration > Schedule Search Indexes) for the Recently Accessed Menu Items index (PTSF_RECENTMENU).
4- Implement RTI (Real Time Index) for the PTSF_RECENTMENU index.
5- Log out. Log back in.
6- In Global Search, search for the external site and observe that the item that is return, as a result in Suggestions Search, comes from the PTPORTALREGISTRY index (green menu icon).
7- Access the link and observe that it works fine.
8- Go back to the Homepage and perform the search for the external link again.
9- Observe that, this time, the search result comes from the Recently Accessed Items - PTSF_RECENTMENU - index (blue icon).
10- By selecting the search result, it gives the error:

- "Invalid URL - unknown Content Type or no Content Type found in URL."

Changes

There were no changes done to the environment.
