Symptoms

Special characters from a REST QAS service with JSON format are not displayed properly. Instead, they are converted into encoded bytes.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Create a public PS Query to fetch text from database that has this symbol.
2. Invoke the query Rest service from a browser.
3. Notice in the JSON response that the symbol is not returned. Instead, it is showing byte characters.
