Real Time Indexing (RTI) is not Indexing new Classes Added to the Schedule of Classes, but Will Index any Changes Made to Existing Classes (Doc ID 3077690.1)

Symptoms

Fluid Class Search is not showing new classes added to the Schedule of Classes while Real Time Indexing is enabled.

When a new section of an existing class was added (e.g., ART 123), it immediately appeared in the Fluid Class Search. However, when creating an entirely new class (e.g., ANTHRO 404), it did not show up in the class search. However, the new class was visible on the Class Index Manager page (incremental index). Only after performing an incremental build did the new class become searchable in the Class Search.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Enable Real Time Indexing for Index SSR_CLASS_SEARCH_LFF (PeopleTools > Search Framework > Real Time Indexing >Configure Real Time Indexing)
  2. Schedule a new class for Fall 2025, ANTHRO 404 (Curriculum Management >Schedule of Classes >Schedule New Course) save the changes.
  3. Log in to self service as a student.
  4. Click on the Manage Classes tile.
  5. Using the left hand navigation menu, click on the Class Search and Enroll option.
  6. Select the 2025 Fall term from the list provided.
  7. In the Search for Classes search box, add ANTHRO 404 and click the right arrow at the end of the search bar.
  8. Note results.
