Symptoms

The following error message is received when generating an award from a proposal where the proposal is associated with an attribute type that has 2 effective dated rows.

Error:

Data being added conflicts with existing data. (18,2)

When adding a new item to the database, the system found a conflicting item already exists.

This problem can happen if another user has entered similar information at the same time as you. Note the changes you have made, cancel the page, then retry your changes.

If the problem persists, it may be because of an application or other programming error and should be reported to technical support staff.

This error occurs when the keys on the record being inserted match a record that is already in the database. The application must ensure that each inserted record has unique keys.

Replication Steps:

  1. Define an attribute with a least 2 effective date. Set Up Financials/Supply Chain>Product Related>Grants>Setup Grants Attribute Type.
  2. Create a Proposal. Grants > Proposals > Maintain Proposal > Proposal. Enter needed information.
  3. Click on the Attributes link on the Proposal page and select the attribute type created in step #1 and save.
  4. Submit the Proposal. Grants > Proposals > Submit Proposal > Submission.
  5. Generate the award. Grants>Proposals>Generate Award.
  6. The above error is received.
