Symptoms

When reporting quarterly wage data to New York on paper, customers must append a one character check-digit to their 9-character or 11-character New York employer withholding account number.  For this reason, the customer is required to  include the check-digit as a tenth or twelfth character when completing the EMPLOYER_ID_SWT field on the Company State Tax Table.

However, when employers report quarterly wage data to New York on magnetic media, New York does not want the one character check-digit included in the fields which contain the employer's identification number.  TAX810NY.SQR needs to be modified to exclude the check-digit from the EIN field on the 1A and 1E records.
