E-FLO: Getting MSS or DB2 Error Like "Arithmetic overflow error for data type smallint ..." on Adding LOCATION_TBL Record into a File Layout (Doc ID 617667.1)

Symptoms

Cannot save a File Layout after having created a new FileLayout and dragged the LOCATION_TBL or JOBCODE_TBL record into it. When trying to save, get an error like this

In MSS:

SQL error. Stmt #: 602  Error Position: 0  Return: 8601 - [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Arithmetic overflow error for data type smallint, value = 33454. (SQLSTATE 22003) 220

INSERT INTO PSFLDSEGDEFN (FLDDEFNNAME, FLDSEGNAME, FLDSEGID, FLDSEGPARENT, FLDSEGIDSTART, FLDSEGIDLENGTH, FLDMAXSEGLEN, FLDIDSEQNO, FLDOFFSET, FLDTAG, FLDSEQNO, FLDQUALIFIER, FLDDELIMITERTYPE, FLDDELIMITER, RECNAME_FILE, SQLID, SQLTYPE, FLDSEGCOUNT, FLDFIELDCOUNT, DESCR100) VALUES (:1,:2,:3,:4,:5,:6,:7,:8,:9,:10,:11,:12,:13,:14,:15,:16,:17,:18,:19, :20)

In DB2:

SQL error. Stmt #: 602  Error Position: 0  Return: 8601 - [IBM][CLI Driver][DB2/SUN] SQL0302N  The value of a host variable in the EXECUTE or OPEN statement is too large for its corresponding use.  SQLSTATE=22003
