E-AS: What is the PSWATCHSRV Process? (Doc ID 624217.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 30, 2022

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.43 to 8.53 [Release 8.4]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Starting with PeopleTools 8.43 there is a new process for the application server domain called PSWATCHSRV, what does it do?

Cases were identified where the PSAPPSRV (and other server processes) hung during exit. This could happen as part of a regular shutdown, recycle or service timeout. Zombie processes remained after a domain has been shutdown. These processes consume resources such as file handles, memory and in some cases processor time. Tuxedo failed to clean up processes found in the states above.
