Symptoms

Iowa Garnishment Rule has a maximum garnishment amount that is a sliding scale based on expected earnings for the year.    Please see Iowa Regulation below.  


Maximum subject to garnishment:   The maximum amount that can be garnisheed in a year is $250 for each creditor except under decrees for support or when earnings are reasonably expected to exceed $12,000. When annual earnings exceed $12,000, the maximum amounts subject to garnishment for each creditor are as follows:
 
between $12,000 and $15,999.99 - not more than $400;
between $16,000 and $23,999.99 - not more than $800;
between $24,000 and $34,999.99 - not more than $1,500;
between $35,000 and $49,999.99 - not more than $2,000; and
at least $50,000 - not more than 10% of the expected earnings
