When the Dynamic Role Rule process is run, the underlying sql removes all members under a certain role and then re-adds the same members and any new members to the same role. This causes overhead for the system especially when there are a few small user changes to be applied against a user base of thousands of users. This process was being run every hour, but due to performance problems, it was scaled back to every 3 hours.
What can be done to improve the underlying sql and avoid these performance problems?
