How Does BAS_PARTIC_PLAN Get Updated When an Employee Elects a Plan? (Doc ID 650539.1)

Goal

How does the Benefits Admininistration process know which plan type/option record in BAS_PARTIC_PLAN was actually elected?  How does the COBOLl handle the update to BAS_PARTIC_PLAN when someone elects a new plan.  Does the existing row for plan type/option cd need to simply be updated, or does it need to be deleted and a new row inserted?
