PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Getting Error message from within the AP Workbench application:

"No Ren Server Setup for Event Notification. You must define a RenServer to Enable Event Notification."

Many customers need to know:
1) If the On-Demand Processing Option is truly configurable.
2) Whether the configuration can prevent the application page (such as Vouchers > Match Workbench) from invoking the REN Server to show the process in a pop-up window.

The setup for On-Demand Processing is under each application Setup menu. For example:

Set Up Financials/Supply Chain, Common Definitions, On-Demand Processing, On-Demand Process Options, On-Demand Processing Options

PeopleBooks states that the "Use Event Notification" is a configurable option. The wording in PeopleBooks states that by checking the Use Event Notification the process will run asynchronously, which is taken to mean not using Ren Server.

(PeopleSoft Enterprise Application Fundamentals 9.0 People Book > Setting Up On-Demand Processing)

Use Event Notification

Select this check box to have the system run the processes in asynchronous mode, such that the processes run independently in the background and no response is required from the server. This is the most typical mode of execution.
