The following type of warnings can be seen in the WebLogic logs and performance appears to be slow:
<Aug 10, 2007 3:12:12 PM MDT> <Warning> <Socket> <BEA-000402> <There are: 25 active sockets, but the maximum number of socket reader threads allowed by the configuration is: 24. You may want to alter your configuration.>
What this means, is that the WebLogic server is using pure Java socket readers instead of Native IO socket readers. The above message indicates that WebLogic will no longer be able to use any thread for socket reading. It will have to wait until the other sockets are closed. This is BLOCKING IO and could lead to severe performance degradation. The following message is also probably displayed during the startup sequence:
