E-PerfMon: Error: "(PerfMon Agent) Communication to Monitor Servlet failed." Resulting in Loss of Data. (Doc ID 659371.1)

Symptoms

This issue has been reported on PPM WebSphere Webservers, but could potentially happen on environments with WebLogic or OAS as the PPM Server.
The symptom that customers will see are "loss of data" and "Stale Agent Data" messages in the System Performance pages.

In the APPSRV_xxx.LOG on the monitored system you will see the following errors:

PSAPPSRV.1470622 [01/02/08 00:00:26](2) (PerfMon Agent) Communication to Monitor Servlet failed. Either the Performance Monitor URL is invalid or the Performance Monitor Webserver is unavailable. Exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset
PSAPPSRV.1130708 [01/02/08 00:00:26](2) (PerfMon Agent) Communication to Monitor Servlet failed. Either the Performance Monitor URL is invalid or the Performance Monitor Webserver is unavailable. Exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset
PSAPPSRV.1499228 [01/02/08 00:00:28](2) (PerfMon Agent) Communication to Monitor Servlet failed. Either the Performance Monitor URL is invalid or the Performance Monitor Webserver is unavailable. Exception: java.net.SocketException: Unexpected end of file from server
PSAPPSRV.1450002 [01/02/08 00:00:30](2) (PerfMon Agent) Communication to Monitor Servlet failed. Either the Performance Monitor URL is invalid or the Performance Monitor Webserver is unavailable. Exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset
