E-AE: Sporadic Application Engine Failures on Oracle 10.2.0.3 (Doc ID 659406.1)

Symptoms

 

Recently after upgraded to tools 8.48 and oracle 10g. We have been getting sporadic Application Engine errors where the Application Engines throw an error and then go on to completion when restarted. The error message is something like:

"SQL error. Stmt #: 1789  Error Position: 12  Return: 1461 - ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column

INSERT INTO PS_AERUNCONTROLPC (PROCESS_INSTANCE, SEQNUM, DATALEN,AE_PC_GLOBALS)   VALUES (:1,:2,:3,:4)"

For this Application Engine  this error has been about 3-4 times in the past 5 weeks.  When restarted it goes on to complete successfully.  

Please note we also have another problem where we saw errors with the Dynamic Role Pub Application Engine errors with an error message like:

SQL error. Stmt #: 5925  Error Position: 0  Return: 3113 - ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel.  This one also goes to completion on a restart.
