E-PerfMon: Error: (PerfMon Agent) Communication to Monitor Servlet failed (Doc ID 660971.1)

Customers are getting repeated messages on the monitored systems APPSRV_MMDD.LOG:

The symptom that customers will see are "loss of data" and "Stale Agent Data" messages in the System Performance pages.

The problem consists in that WebLogic closes an idle keep alive HTTP socket after 5 seconds. The PPM Agent requests keep alive but doesn't reuse the socket for 10 to 600 seconds. The PPM Agent does not retry a transmission if a socket is down. Typical result is lost data for every other transmission from the PPM Agent.
