T&L load abended last payroll. We were told to follow the steps detailed in the Red Paper, Procedure to Follow when Load Time and Labor Abends (Narasimhan and Monksfield, 2004). After following the steps detailed, we found out that the refresh T&L process would take 239 hours. Because of this, we ran another process given us by GCS (see case 4618967). This process worked successfully. Analyst told us that the reason that the process was going to take so long was because the refresh was refreshing all PAYROLL REQ NUMS. If we only had one, then the process would run more quickly.
In our production environment, we run load T&L multiple times during the pay period, and we have multiple paygroups. I believe this would be true for any semi-large customer.
I guess the bottom-line is that we think that the solution offered in the Red Paper does not work and another, published solution needs to be developed.
