Symptoms

We have PeopleSoft HRMS 8.9 with Ptools 8.49 running on Oracle 10g.  We are planning to implement Oracle 10g encryption to secure sensitive data at database level.  Please let us know if PeopleSoft application has any impact from this encryption and if it would run smoothly or not.  Please confirm that PeopleSoft certifies Oracle 10g encryption for it's applications.

Changes

As outlined in Enterprise PeopleTools 8.50 Release Notes (Doc ID 888632.1):

With PeopleTools 8.50 PeopleTools now supports the use of Oracle’s Transparent Data
Encryption (TDE), which enables encryption of sensitive data in database columns as
it is stored in the operating system files. In addition, it provides for secure
storage and management of encryption keys in a security module external to the
database.
