E-RD - PRCSYSPURGE can leave extraneous rows in PS_CDM_LIST & PS_CDM_AUTH (Doc ID 662758.1)

Last updated on JULY 27, 2022

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

SPECIFIC TO: PeopleTools 8.4x

ISSUE:

The purge process potentially leaves rows in PS_CDM_LIST & PS_CDM_AUTH which in some situations, e.g. when the Process Instance numbers are reused, can have significant downstream effects.

One sequence of events that reproduces this symptom is:

1.) A user generates a process request that would generate output destined for a Report Repository.
2.) The user cancels the request before it runs on the process scheduler.
3.) The PRCSYSPURGE process runs and purges the process request from the PSPRCSQUE, but not from PS_CDM_LIST nor PS_CDM_AUTH.

In a similar manner, we also see the potential for an issue should a Report Request have output generated that has the associated PS_CDM_LIST.EXPIRATION_DATE set far into the distant future, i.e. after the time that the Process Instance number would wrap completely around and be reused.
