Symptoms

The Content Type Property Fields in Profile Type Property Fields do not have the same lookup fields. According to Peoplebooks it should be able to link the fields together by using the Refresh Properties function.

After setting up new properties in Type Content, these properties are not shown in the Profile Type

From Peoplebooks, "Refresh Properties" button definition

Click this link to update the list of properties based on the current content type definition. The system ompares the content type definition with the properties that have a property source Catalog, and updates the list of properties and the property attributes accordingly. This enables you to synchronize the content section with the content type definition in the content catalog.

When you create content sections for a profile type, the system uses the content type definitions that are current on the date that you add the content types. If you later add or delete properties, or change the property attributes of those content types, the content sections in the profile type are not automatically updated to match this revised definition. The Refresh Properties link enables you to update the content section as required. "

But, if you create new fields using Content Catalog > Content Types and try to bring these fields across using this 'Refresh Properties' button. The fields does not become available in Profiles > Profiles Types > Content --Content Properties.
