In your PeopleSoft environment, the REN server and Web Server are on different machines. The REN server ping test is successful. However, when you run a report to window from an Internet Explorer (IE) browser, the following occurs:
- First the REN window "flashes" or "loops" and you may see multiple url addresses flash at bottom of page. You may also see 'Error on Page' messages flash on bottom of page.
- On some browsers, the flashing may never stop. Or it may get to the 'Queued' Window, but never display the report. On other browsers, the following IE error message may be displayed:
-If you click 'Show Details', error details, that resemble the following, may appear
Error: Permission denied
If REN server debug logging is enabled, you may observe one of the following scenarios:
The follow message is logged to the REN server log PSRENSRV_MMDD.log:

Note: It is ok if you see the 'Access denied, unrecognized request' message in the log, when the REN server is trying to retrieve favicon.ico, as in the example below. The problem described in this document, is referring to a situation where you also see the message for other requests in addition to "GET favicon.ico":

The log shows it is constantly processing request "GET /psren/?do_method=lib HTTP/1.1" and loading file "kn.js". Below is an excerpt of the "looping log entries".
The report still completes successfully despite the fact that it is not displayed to window, and you are able to view the report via Process Monitor.
Also, you will find that the "Report to Window" functionality runs fine if using a non-IE browser such as Mozilla Firefox.
