Purpose


The purpose of this Knowledge Management (KM) document is to examine a typical Maintenance Package (MP) in a more detailed way.

Once an MP file is downloaded, we take a close look on each file and its purpose. An MP has a lot of similarities to a bundle in terms of objects delivered and how it is applied using Change Assistant. The main difference is that an MP would include several bundles and therefore would take longer to apply. It is the objective of this KM document to familiarize ourselves with some of its components. This KM document however DOES NOT deal on HOW TO apply a Maintenance Pack. Like a bundle an MP is applied using Change Assistant and therefore please refer to Peoplebooks on how to use Change Assistant (CA).

This document will take a closer look for a particular MP (FSCM 9 Maintenance Pack 5 Cumulative).

Note: Although focusing on an FSCM related Maintenance Pack, the general information about MP structure would also apply to other Maintenance Packs such as HCM, CRM, EPM, and Portal Solutions.
