Last updated on JANUARY 03, 2023

Siebel Email Response - Version 8.1.1.6 [21233] and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

How to control the number of attempts to sent an email from Siebel Application when using F9 with Siebel Email Client or Outbound Requests?

Currently when a user tries to send an email from Siebel application and for some unexpected behavior it fails (SMTP Server unavailable for example) it tries to resend the email message again only 15 minutes later. It will also keep retrying for a 24 hours period, that is 96 attempts in case the email keep failing.

This behavior has been introduced in Siebel 8.1.1.6 and higher  to improve the retry strategy documented on What Is the Retry Strategy for Outbound Communications Requests If There Are SMTP Failures?(Doc ID 478097.1)
