Workflow Engine shows Short (Truncated) Error Messages stack at exception from a Workflow Process Step (Doc ID 1166066.1)

Last updated on JULY 21, 2020

Applies to:

Siebel Workflow Manager - Version [21211] to[21215] [Release V8]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

It was found that in certain Siebel 8.1.1.x releases, the error message, reported by Siebel Workflow Process Engine at workflow process step exception was "shorten". It contained only last error message from the entire messages stack, making the exception diagnostics complexer (need to look in the detailed Siebel Application log to figure out the source error).

For example, usually the error reporting from at BS-Step exception (e.g. the workflow process step "S", used to call method "M" of  Siebel Business Service "B", would be failing because of error such as: "Value too long for Field'F') was looking like:

  • Error invoking service 'B', method 'M' at step S'.(SBL-BPR-00162)
  • SBL-DAT-00235: Value too long for field 'F' (maximum size 100)

However with the behavior, the error was shown in the "short" form (only one error message from the top of error stack  and no other essential parts):

  • Error invoking service 'B', method 'M' at step S'.(SBL-BPR-00162)

Affected Releases:

1. Siebel Fix Pack: after application of the Quick Fix QF0119

2. Siebel Fix Pack: standard delivery
