Self Service application requires a valid database connection for data passivation, which is a feature specific to ADF (Self Service is built using ADF) for storing pending transaction. This has no relation to the database schema that Siebel CRM uses. Any valid database connection to a Oracle database should do. Ideally you could use a Oracle 10g database instance, as from past experience, sometimes it was seen that Oracle 11g drivers did not work well.
