Email Alerts Are Not Working As Desired (Doc ID 1283408.1)

Last updated on APRIL 04, 2025

Applies to:

Siebel Finance Service - Version 8.1.1.2 SIA[21215] to 8.1.1.5 SIA [21229] [Release V8]
Siebel Email Response - Version 8.0.0.4 SIA [20417] to 8.0.0.4 SIA [20417] [Release V8]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The behavior has been replicated as follows:

1. Defined a new AdminEmailAlert profile to get the notification sent through SMPT server from lab.

2. Defined a new email account on SMPT server that should be used for the email alerts.

3. Confirmed that the AdminEmail feature is configured for the components I tested (Note, by default this feature is enabled for all components). Confirmed also that the AdminEmailAlert feature is disabled at the Siebel Server and Siebel Enterprise levels:

- Administration – Server Configuration > Servers > Components > Call Center Object Manager (ENU) > Parameters > Advanced Parameters:
Notification Action on Task Exit = 1

- Administration – Server Configuration > Servers > Components > Workflow Process Manager > Parameters > Advanced Parameters:
Notification Action on Task Exit = 1

- Administration – Server Configuration > Enterprises > Parameters > Advanced Parameters:
Notification Action on Task Exit = 0

- Administration – Server Configuration > Servers > Parameters > Advanced Parameters:
Notification Action on Task Exit = 0

4. Set the Autorestart component parameter to FALSE for both components. Note that Email Notifications will not be triggered before 10 times restart trials for the component. Hence I have disabled this parameter.

5. Restarted the Siebel Server. Reviewed OS PID for both WfProcMgr and SCCObjMgr_ENU components in Siebel Enterprise log file.

6. Killed both processes in Task Manager

> Received email notifications for both components:

7. Disabled the feature for the Workflow component by changing the following component parameter:
Notification Action on Task Exit = 0

8. Restarted the Siebel server.

9. Again reviewed the OS PID in the Siebel enterprise log file and killed the corresponding process in task manager for the Workflow component.

> This time I received also an email notification even if the feature has been disabled for this component.
