Automatic Reconnection When Timeout (Doc ID 1464444.1)

Symptoms

ENVIRONMENT
Siebel 8.0.0.12 SIA [20444]
Internet Explorer version 6 / 8

SUMMARY
Idle Siebel sessions that timeout in combination with persistent cookies (Remember my User ID and Password) causes an error - as opposed to returning to the previous Siebel session

ERROR
The server you are trying to access is either busy or experiencing difficulties. Please close the Web browser, open a new browser window, and try logging in again.

WARNING
Your session timed out because you were idle for too long. Please log in again to resume.
If you had a Siebel attachment open, your changes may have been lost. Please save the file locally, close it, and reattach it to the appropriate record.

STEPS
a. Disable Message Broadcasting for the respective Siebel registered user
b. Set the SWSE parameter SessionTimeout correspondingly in the EAPPS.CFG or EAPPS_SIA.CFG

1. Expected behavior
1.1. Login to the Siebel application as normal (without marking the checkbox "Remember my User ID and Password")
1.2. Let the Siebel session idle (timeout)
1.3. Attempt to navigate in the Siebel application
1.4. Timeout warning appears
1.5. Select OK
1.6. User returned to Siebel session

2. Actual behavior
2.1. Login to the Siebel application as normal (without marking the checkbox "Remember my User ID and Password"
2.2. Let the Siebel session idle (timeout)
2.3. Attempt to navigate in the Siebel application
2.4. Timeout warning appears
2.5. Select OK
2.6. Error displayed "The server you are trying to access is either busy or experiencing difficulties. Please close the Web browser, open a new browser window, and try logging in again."
2.7. Pressing F5 to refresh the Web browser window does NOT return the user to the Siebel session
2.8. User must login anew or wait for the subsequent timeout warning popup

BUSINESS IMPACT
Siebel registered users unable to return to their valid session if it times out
