CRM Desktop Login Issue

Symptoms

CRM Desktop Login Issue

User is facing issue while logging into CRM Desktop with error message, CRM Desktop Internal Error contact your Administrator. Log files suggest it is issue with Proxy server but we were not able to resolve or find the root cause for this issue.

Error in Siebel CRM Desktop general log:

30,(12-05-31 11:18:51.505323),,[info] ,{logf}:Exception 'class http::basic_error' throwing: Unable to find appropriate proxy for https://MachineName.com/usability/start.swe?SWEExtSource=WebService&SWEExtCmd=Execute&WSSOAP=1 The proxy auto-configuration script could not be downloaded


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps ( with box 'Automatically detect settings' checked )
1. install CRM Desktop
2. after install , log in with user name and password
3. error displays on screen and error is logged in log file
