Need Clarification On Upgrade Path In TESTING Environment to upgrade to V8.1.1.10 where IRM was run on Development environment (Doc ID 1575834.1)

Last updated on MARCH 02, 2017

Applies to:

Siebel Life Sciences CRM - Version 8.1.1.10 [23021] and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Qn1:You have run Development upgrade from V8.0.0.10 to V8.1.1.9 and later applied V8.1.1.10 due to some security issues in V8.1.1.9.

Now, in V8.1.1.10, you are running IRM.

You would like to how to take care of these changes in Production TEST which should be upgraded from V8.0.0.10 to V8.1.1.10.

Option 1:

1. Install the application server (8.1) and patch it to 8.1.1.9
2. Run the upgrep in production mode with merged repository and schema files.
3. Run upgphys
4. Patch the application to 8.1.1.10
5. Bring the application up.

Questions:

1. Is this a correct/recommended approach?
2. With the above approach will the IRM changes what we have already applied in DEV environment come to TEST environment? Or IRM changes has to be re-done? As oracle says with 8.1.1.10 patch installation IRM process is mandatory?

Option 2:

1. Install the application server (8.1) and patch it to 8.1.1.10 directly.
2. Run the upgrep in production mode with merged repository and schema files.
3. Run upgphys
4. Bring the application up.

Questions:

1. Is this a correct/recommended approach? (It would be different path from what we followed in DEV, where we ran upgrep on top of 8.1.1.9 and applied 8.1.1.10 patch later)
2. With the above approach will the IRM changes what we have already applied in DEV environment come to TEST environment?

Qn2:Clarification required on what type of data will be upgraded during Product Test upgrade.
