Q1.) . Is it possible to create a quote and use the product configurator with anonymous user in ATG (user not having provided its user information) using the reference pack provided by Oracle.
A1.) Yes, it is possible but not recommended as the account profile will provide the details necessary for pricing/compatibility/eligibility.
The Checkout process can be modified to collect those details which will be stored in Siebel but not as a User Profile in ATG
How do you suggest / recommend then to use the product configurator when user is just browsing the ATG site and wants to see prices and then add to cart before even starting the checkout process and enters his user information?
Q2. When is usually required to call the ExecuteQuoting webservice?
A2. We generally call the Execute Quoting webservice after configuration has finished (we've called endConfig for all the products) and we want to get a price for the current order, eg when we're displaying the cart or we've made a change to the shipping group.
Well I thought the webservice recommended for repricing the Quote and QuoteItems in the Reference Pack was the CalculatePriceWS? Could you please clarify when to use CalcularePriceWS versus ExecuteQuoting? And what is the real difference between the 2 webservices?
Q3. What should be the typical webservice call to assign an AccountID and BillingAccountID to existing Quote? Because it looks like he AccountID and BillingAccountID are not only stored in the QuoteHeader but as well in the QuoteItems.
A3. That's correct. The Account ID should be in the Quote and each Quote Item.
Both IDs are returned from Siebel via the AccountContact Login flows.
Yes I know this but I would like to know how to assign an Account and BillingAccount to an anonymous Quote: What are the webservices to use and what is the information that needs to be updated in the anonymous quote – only the IDs of the Account and BillingAccount or is there anything else to take in consideration?
Q4. In ATG Siebel integration is the Quote created in Memory on Siebel side or is the Quote store in the Siebel database?
A4. the quote id/order id will only be persisted once the order is complete (and the whole order is persisted). All web service calls pre-checkout cause nothing to be persisted in Siebel.
Is there a special parameters to use in the beginConfiguration to force the Quote not to be persisted because our Siebel Development team is saying the quote is persisted in Siebel? Also could you please clarify what is the first webservice call that is going to persist the Quote in Siebel database?
Q5. In ATG Siebel integration once the product is configurated before starting the checkout flow in ATG, and user click checkout, at that time during the checkout process is the product configurator still required? what is Oracle recommending in order to finalize the quote and submit the order to Siebel?
A5. Configurator is only required during product configuration. Once we get to the view cart page, any Product Configuration Instance model objects are blown away.
Orders will be submitted to Siebel via a patchbay Message Sink. See atg.siebel.order.submit.SiebelOrderSourceSink.java
I don’t see this submit folder in the reference pack that I have, neither I can find the SiebelOrderSourceSink.java… is it possible to share this folder for our reference?
