DB LOCK on dbo.S_SRM_REQUEST Table While Running Statistics On SQL Server Or Any Database. (Doc ID 1682543.1)

Goal

Processes had exclusive (X) lock on the statistics repository for the table, dbo.S_SRM_REQUEST. The session was started in morning, and has been hanging for at least 24 hours. The impact of this blocking is I cannot update the statistics on the table, why is this occuring?
