Browser Back Button Click Is Not Captured In Open UI (Doc ID 1910285.1)

Last updated on JULY 19, 2021

Applies to:

Siebel System Software - Version 8.2.2.4 SIA [23030] and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Pressing of the browser's 'Back' button by a user, so that a message can be displayed to them, cannot be captured in the Siebel Open UI framework.

Although the use of the 'window.addEventListener' method can be seen in the standard 'cfgclient.js' file, using it in this regards, for example,

window.addEventListener("beforeunload", function(e){e.returnValue = "User trying to leave the page!! Are you sure you want to leave?";});

either within 'cfgclient.js' or elsewhere in Browser script, does not result in the message being displayed.

The same Javascript within a standard HTML page, outside of the Siebel Open UI framework, does display the message when the browser 'Back' button is pressed.
