OpenUI: no session cookies in IE if web server name contains underscore character ( '_') (Doc ID 1934724.1)

Symptoms

In Bookshelf Siebel Security Guide (section "Security Features of Siebel Web Server Extension > About Using Cookies with Siebel Business Applications > Session Cookie"), it is stated that OpenUI requires cookies and does not support URL mode.

 

The following information should be added to such Bookshelf:

Internet Explorer does not support session cookies if the node name contains any special character (including '-' and '_') and thus if customers want to use IE as browser, the web server node name(s) MUST NOT contain any of those special characters.

 

This happens because Internet Explorer (by design) will not store cookies when there is an underscore in the hostname.
