Email Outbound Activities "comment" Field Displays Euro € Sign Wrong (Doc ID 2041601.1)

Symptoms

On : 8.1.1.14.6 [IP2014] version, Comms Server & Email Response


The issue appears if you use the F9 Email Client in HTML Mode:
The € sign is shown incorrectly in the "Comment" field of the activity, if it is an "Email Outbound" activity created by the system.

This does not happen, if you enter the € directly to the "Comment" field.


There are two types of errors regarding the "Comment" field:
1. In the activity list (applet: Activity List Applet With Navigation): The string "€" and the € sign are displayed as € as long as the user has not clicked in the "Comment" field.
When the user clicks in the "Comment" field the € sign and the string "€" are displayed as the string "€".
2. In the applet "Activity Form Applet" the "Comment" field displays € and the string "€" always has the string "€".

The issue is reproducible in both HI and OpenUI, with IE11 or Chrome.

The Euro € sign should be shown correctly in the "Comment" field of the activity, if it is an "Email Outbound" activity created by the system.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Your F9 Email Client has to run in HTML mode.
2. Write a F9 Email With € signs in the email body text.
3. Send this email.
4. Open the automatically created "Email - Outbound" activity for this email.


BUSINESS IMPACT

Due to this issue, users cannot see the Euro € sign displayed correctly. Instead, it appears as "€"
