Siebel Mobile App - error 'Cannot connect to the server. Please check the settings' (Doc ID 2045565.1)

Symptoms

Siebel Mobile - on version: 8.1.1.14.7 [IP2014]

On a Development / Test environment - trying to setup Siebel Mobile version 2.0 container app on iPad device, following steps were applied:

1. Set up host server
2. Placed the mobileapplist.lst file in Webserver folder and C:/inetpub/wwwroot
3. Setup MIME Type for .lst extension and restarted web server.
4. In Settings tab of app, setup the host address and are able to fetch the application list.
5. In application list, setup user id/password and Set Show In Dock to True.
6. Applications are visible under Settings in left pane.
7. However clicking on the application icon in Dock throws following error:
"Cannot connect to the server. Please check the settings"

If trying to connect to the same URL through Safari browser, it connects properly.

BUSINESS IMPACT

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot start Mobile application using Mobile (container) Siebel app.
