In 15.3 and 14.9 External Email Client Inaccessible in Open UI

Symptoms

In Siebel version :  15.3 [IP2015] version, Comms Server & Email Response

The external email client is inaccessible for sending emails in Open UI.


ERROR
-----------------------

A small window opens with 'Send Email' and X appearing.


STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. In Tools > User Preferences > Outbound Communications select 'Plain Text' format, and 'External Email Client'
2. Navigate to selected point in application, and press F9
3. Select Recipient and / or Message Template
4. Press OK
5. Observe small error window

BUSINESS IMPACT

Due to this issue, users cannot send emails in Open UI using external email client.
