Local Database Connections not Working for New Installations of Siebel Tools or Siebel Mobile Web Client (Doc ID 2061175.1)

Symptoms

Scope of Issue

The following information applies ONLY to the following situations with Siebel 15 (IP2015):

Application of a new Siebel 15 patchset on top of an existing Siebel 2015 Tools or Mobile Web Client installation are NOT impacted!

 

Behavior Encountered:

After installing Siebel 15 Siebel Tools or Siebel Mobile Web Client (part of Siebel Remote functionality), attempts to access the local database fail.  The specific resulting behaviors vary on whether you are attempting to use Siebel Tools or Siebel Mobile Web Client.

In Siebel Tools, the user will see an error similar to the following:
 

   

 

 The related log files will have the following errors:

 

For the Siebel Mobile Web Client, the behaviors vary depending on the specific action being performed.  Some of the more likely patterns are shown below.  Please note that these errors may also occur due to other causes.

 

1.  Gennewdb: After reading some tables - “Read 4023 tables and 15564 indexes.” the process exits with error.

 

Srvrmgr Console:

SBL-GDB-00004: Error in Main function.

 

Log File  Error (Windows):

GenericLog GenericError 1 0000000955ee7327:0 2015-09-08 02:26:35 SQL Message, IM003: [DataDirect][ODBC lib] Specified driver could not be loaded

GenericLog GenericError 1 0000000955ee7327:0 2015-09-08 02:26:45 Error creating SQL Anywhere database template file (UTLOdbcConnect DBA/siebelmobiledb).

2)  DBxtract will fail with “SBL-DBX-00038: No local database template found.”

 

LogFile Error:

3) DBinit will fail with “Node 'XXXXXXX' does not have a application server assigned to it.  Run dbxtract for this node on a particular application server to assign it to that application server.”
