AutoComplete With Hierarchical Child Picklist Does Not Display Values As Expected

The autocomplete on the child field of a hierarchical picklist by typing one ore more characters does not work as expected.
The child picklist also keeps the values corresponding to the previously selected record in the parent picklist.
WHAT IS THE DESIRED BEHAVIOR?
Hierarchical child picklist should display the values corresponding to the value selected in the parent picklist.
WHAT IS THE ACTUAL OR UNEXPECTED BEHAVIOR?
The child picklist keeps the values corresponding to the previously selected record in the parent picklist. If the record is changed in the parent picklist and the child picklist record is populated by typing directly into the dropdown list only the child records corresponding to the previous parent can be selected.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Navigate to Service Request Screen
2. Add a record in the top applet: Service Request List Applet
3. In the bottom applet (Service Request Detail Applet) fill in the
[Type]="Auto", [Area]="Brakes" and check the [Sub Area] field.
=> It shows only one value: "Squeaking". The [Sub Area] may be populated or not.
4. Change the [Area] to "Engine"
5. Try to populate the [Sub Area], if the user wants to use autocomplete and press the "S" key on the keyboard
=> the "Squeaking" value comes up even if that is not associated to the "Engine" area selected above.
