Applies to:

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

PRODUCT VERSIONS:
------------------------------
SIEBEL VERSION: Siebel 15.0 + PatchSet 3

ISSUE STATEMENT:
----------------------------

Customer is trying to capture error messages that occur when executing workflow processes. Customer observes that only the generic error message "Error invoking service '<?>', method '<?>' at step '<?>'.(SBL-BPR-00162)" is being captured, but the actual error that caused the transaction to fail was not captured.

ERROR MESSAGE:
--------------------------
The error message that occurs with this issue is:

EAISiebAdpt EAISiebAdptErr 1 00000c4f568c1d0c:0 2016-01-19 11:20:01 [0] Required field is missing in instance of Integration Component 'User' with the user key '[Login Name] = "TEST87@TEST.COM"': 'ChallengeAnswer' is a required field. Please enter a value for the field.(SBL-DAT-00498)(SBL-EAI-04389) (0x7501f2)

WHERE IT HAPPENED:
-------------------------------
The issue happens in customer's Test environment.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR:
-------------------------------
The expected behaviour is that the entire/actual error message causing the transaction to fail should be captured.

WHAT IS NOT WORKING/ACTUAL RESULTS:
-------------------------------------
The actual result in Siebel 15.x is that only the last generic error message is captured, which provides no details on the actual cause/failure.

LOSS OF FUNCTIONALITY / BUSINESS IMPACT:
------------------------------
Since the workflow process is not capturing the actual error message that caused the transaction to fail, customer has to manually look into the log files, which is not efficient as there could be hundreds of log files.
