InLine Editing is not working when the SSL is enabled and the client machine has Java version 8 installed.
When attempting to edit a Siebel Attachment , the file is created in a temporary folder, locally and if you apply any change in the file, its not saved back to the file system.
To have the attachment changes saved, its required to re-upload the file back to the Server.
The problem does not occur when using HTTP (SSL is disabled) and could not be reproduced on the client machine with Java version 7 even when SSL is enabled.
If Java is present, the users should able to edit and save the documents on the fly without an intermediate save location
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Enable SSL to log into Siebel Application using HTTPS
2. Log into the Siebel Application, Open UI interface, from a client machine with Java version 8
3. Navigate to any attachment view.
4. Click on attachment to open it. It opens a new webpage with 3 options Open, Save, Cancel;
a) If I click Open, then it creates a file in a temporary folder, locally and if you apply any change in the file, its not saved back to the file system.
b) To have the attachment changes saved, its required to re-upload the file back to the Server.
