Effective Dating Does not Allow Date and Time in Start and End Date Fields, Only Date is Accepted (Doc ID 2147403.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 05, 2019

Applies to:

Siebel CRM - Version [IP2014] and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Background (from Siebel Bookshelf: Public Sector Guide):
Effective dating is useful for capturing historical values in the fields that affect the benefits determination for citizens.

Tracking these historical values increases the accuracy of the benefits determination.

For example, if a citizen’s income affects the benefits determination, and if an agent learns of a change in the citizen’s income two months after the change is effective, then the agent can enter the new income value in Siebel Public Sector and date that value two months earlier.

Consequently, the effective date of the income change, and not the date that the agent changes the income in Siebel Public Sector, is used to redetermine benefits for the citizen.

If you do not enable effective dating, then no functionality is available when users click the Link History button in a view.

To enable effective dating:
1. Navigate to the Administration - Application screen, then the System Preferences view.
2. Select the record with the EnableEffectiveDating system preference name.
3. Change the System Preference Value field of the record to True.
4. To implement the change, re-start the Siebel Server.

For details on implementing effective dating, see Siebel Public Sector Guide: Administering Benefits Cases > Implementing Effective Date Tracking.

In this case, the desire is to enter multiple date/times for the Effective Start Date and Effective End Date; however, the application will not accept time.
