Document Server Fails On Generating PPTX

We have an issue running the document server on our windows server 2012 R2 machine, where office 2010 is installed.
When trying to render a Powerpoint slide in the Action BC, the document generation remain in status "In Progress" (Wird erstellt). When looking on the server, we observe the the template is copied to the servers temp directory, but for some reason the document server fails to open the template.
There are a couple (6) of DocServer logs generated, one of them (DocServer_0040_41943049.log) seems to be the one containing the effective generation process. The last line in the document server log is:
eDocPresentationEvent PresentationInfo[...] Presentation Service: File type verified successfully Name is: ...\ses\siebsrvr\temp\dfviasteproc03_4664_5776_0_FöK ErgebnisDialog_05_10_2016_14_13_40.pptx
Then the file ends, without any error or indication of failure.
