Last updated on SEPTEMBER 22, 2017

Applies to:

Siebel Email Marketing Server - Version 8.1.1.14.11 [IP2014] and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
3 different boxes, on windows 2008:

1.
Dev Server
Installed 1.8 – no luck with the installations
Installed 1.6 – Installations all ran, set the JAVA_HOME and PATH to 1.8 added the services, I could see them in the services, ctd and esd start up
Removed 1.6 pointed JAVA_HOME and PATH to 1.8 – esd and ctd has java error when going to http://server/esd/soaprpc & http://server/esd/soaprpc added to the end of this update, although BHD works.
Reinstalled 1.6, removed the services, pointed everything to 1.6 and esd & bhd failed to start java errors only bhd start up is licensed.
I uninstalled and reinstalled several times with no luck.
2.
Tried fresh on a different server Sandbox 1
Installed 1.6 – Installations all ran, set the JAVA_HOME and PATH to 1.8 added the services, I could see them in the services, ctd and esd start
Switched everything to 1.8 CTD said is licensed, BHD doesn’t say is licensed in the log, BHD didn’t come up at all.
No changes just restarted the machine and tested soaprpc it worked for CTD and BHD (still no is licensed in the log), but now ESD said is licensed.
We ran an end to end test and it worked so it seems something is different with the patch level or server configuration.
3.
As a sanity check we tried again with Sandbox 2
Installed 1.6 – Installations all ran, set the JAVA_HOME and PATH to 1.8 added the services configured them for 1.8 I could see them in the services, ctd, bhd, esd all of them even esd says is licensed now.
I can telnet to port 25 on bhd looks good
ctd and bhd fail the soaprpc with a java exception.
I removed the services and pointed it back to java 1.6, reinstall the services, they all come up is licensed and the soaprpc works.
