DVM Fails with BCHasRows Function when Field Contains Apostrophe (Doc ID 2377984.1)

Last updated on MAY 24, 2023

Applies to:

Siebel CRM - Version 16.18 [IP2016] and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On :  16.18 [IP2016] version, Client Functionality

A street address field has Data Validation Manager  (DVM) defined with the BCHasRows function in order to evaluate existence of the record.

However, if the address has an apostrophe, like in O'Higgins, then the expression is void and invalidated.

For some cases, users have been able to create a Calculated Field with an expression to validate using eval() operator.
Then, users define the DVM with a rule requesting the DVM value.

Even with Immediate Post Changes flag set to true, the Calculated value is not updated when users provide correct values.

The Workaorund is to undo record, start over and provide correct values.
This only happens for compound Calculated Expressions.

For Calculated Fields that rely directly on Physical Fields, the issue does not apply.
