Siebel Search Details Issue

1) When searching on an entity(e.g., Employee ) with an auto suggestion selection what criteria the search spec is applied on the respective entity? Any case sensitivity applied for the search fields?
2) When searching with text and not selecting any auto suggestion then the search is executed differently and taking long time.
3) What is the difference between the two search cases mentioned above? Is there any other search spec applied apart from the BC Spec?
