The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
Add a single line of script to standalone applet, e.g. Alarm Reminder Applet
Sample script:
function WebApplet_PreInvokeMethod(MethodName) {
  return (ContinueOperation);
}
Publish changes, login and immediately logout. Application crashes
