Information in this document applies to any platform.
The Gateway Name Server is installed on Solaris OS, and the requirement is moving it to a new server running on RHEL.
The Siebel installation and Enterprise setup was done referencing the virtual hostname, not the physical hostname for the Gateway Name Server.
Below are the outlined steps:
a) Backup of Gateway Name Server
b) Install the Gateway Name Server on the new host
c) Apply the same Siebel patch level
d) Configure the Gateway Name Server on the new host
e) Shutdown all application servers
f) Shutdown Gateway service on Solaris
g) Copy current siebns.dat from Solaris to RHEL server
h) Redirect the Gateway VIP from the old Solaris host to RHEL server
i) Start Gateway service from RHEL server
j) Check the logs for any errors/anomalies
k) Start one application servers
l) Verify components status
m) Start rest of the application servers and monitor closely
