Attachment Download Tab Won't Be Closed If Chrome Is Used With --app-mode (Doc ID 2747975.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 03, 2021

Applies to:

Siebel Financial Services CRM - Version 20.5 to 21.1 [Release V17]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After an upgrade to 20.5 version it was reported that downloading attachments behaves differently when application is used in --app-mode.

In order to use the application in app mode, it was created a Chrome shortcut with the following under the target: "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe"--app=<LINK TO SIEBEL APPLICATION>-window-size=800,600 --no-sandbox --disable-infobars --disable-gpu

Up until version 20.5 and having the workaround from document "Attachments Of JPG Type Is Getting Opened In New Tab Instead Of Saving Into Download Folder -Siebel (Doc ID 2091877.1)"  applied, when downloading an attachment the following behavior was seen:

1) Click on an attachment.
2) Download Popup opens.
3) Attachment will be downloaded in a new Chrome Tab.
4) New Chrome Tab will be closed and the downloaded file is shown a the bottom of the Siebel tab.

From version 20.5 and having the same workaround applied, behavior is changed as follow:

1) Click on an attachment.
2) Download Popup opens.
3) Attachment will be downloaded in a new Chrome Tab.
4) The new tab won't be closed and the focus remains on the new blank tab.

Note: without the workaround behavior is the same as in 20.5 in all versions.

Changes

The following configuration change is in place as per  "Attachments Of JPG Type Is Getting Opened In New Tab Instead Of Saving Into Download Folder -Siebel (Doc ID 2091877.1)"

Application User property : FileDownloadSave
Value : "jpg;txt"\
