Inbound REST API Calls Frequently Fails With HTTP 500 Error (Doc ID 2771194.1)

Symptoms

Inbound REST API calls into Siebel getting http 500 responses back frequently even under less load.

ERROR

The following errors can be seen in localhost_access_log.

Line 9762: 100.65.139.38 - - [18/Mar/2021:12:37:46 +0530] "GET /siebel/v1.0/data/XXXXXXXXXX/XXXXXXXX?searchspec=&uniformresponse=y&StartRowNum=0&PageSize=100 HTTP/1.1" 500 77
Line 9773: 100.65.139.38 - - [18/Mar/2021:12:38:00 +0530] "GET /siebel/v1.0/data/XXXXXXXXXX/XXXXXXXX?searchspec=&uniformresponse=y&StartRowNum=0&PageSize=100 HTTP/1.1" 500 77


siebel1.log has timeout errors like this:

Thread[https-openssl-nio-443-exec-192,5,main] [2020-06-15 10:16:15.537] [ConnectionUtil] Unable to borrow jdb from pool for User :xxxxxnTimeout waiting for idle object  

 

and CommonLogger.log may have errors like this:

[ERROR] 2020-06-15 12:07:01.142 [https-openssl-nio-443-exec-441 :3E8BDEF866D0485EABB372F6F89A4E17] CommonLogger -com.siebel.swsm.store.ConfigStore:getConnString Unable to fetch connect string from cloud gateway.Check system configuration and network connectionstatus : org.codehaus.jettison.json.JSONObject$Null cannot be cast to java.lang.String
