Email Treatment "Test Email" Does Not Work With Custom Email Address

When trying to use "Test Email" template option with an Email Address other than the out of the box "Email Address" field, the following errors occur:
In the UI:
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
- Modify ESD Email Address:
1.1 Edit esd.properties file to use an Email Address other than the Contact "Email Address" field:
esd.emailAddress=Email Address 2
- In Offers > Email Treatments, select "Test Email" menu option
